First of all……

We’ve made it!

The offseason blues are finally going away this week, as the Miami Marlins will start playing their 2015 Spring Training games in the Grapefruit League.

Play for the Marlins begins today with the Florida International matchup at 1:05 p.m. The Marlins will also face the University of Miami on Tuesday, before the first Grapefruit League game on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

With that we bring a return to #MarlinsMonday to this website, which has changed some since you last visited. Each year we strive to get a fresh look for this site, and while we’re still fine tuning, we will be delivering solid recaps of how former Jacksonville Suns are faring in big league Spring Training games for the Marlins. My college basketball travel has been crazy over the past month, but March brings my annual move to Jacksonville and getting 2015 preparations fully underway!

Back to the Marlins. Most news around camp is positive, even if Giancarlo Stanton was hit by a pitch in a sim game by Henderson Alvarez on Saturday morning. Stanton kept on playing, as he also gets adjusted to his new face guard on his helmet.

Former Suns will get starting chances in the college games on Monday and Tuesday, with 2010-11 Sun Brad Hand getting the start against FIU, while 2014 Sun and Southern League All-Star Jose Urena will face the Miami Hurricanes. Marlins manager Mike Redmond will likely start Dan Haren in the first Grapefruit League game Thursday versus the Cardinals.

Here is the lineup for today’s game against FIU:
