After months, weeks, and days of waiting – IT’S HERE! Opening Day has arrived for the Jacksonville Suns as the season will begin for the Suns tonight against the Jackson Generals at 7:05 p.m. at Bragan Field.
The Suns official Opening Day roster will be announced later today, but we do know that right-hander Trevor Williams will start tonight on the mound for Jacksonville. He’ll be opposed by Jackson right-hander Stephen Landazuri.
Yesterday was a busy day for the Suns, first hosting media day during batting practice at Bragan Field. You can see highlights from what manager David Berg and players had to say here:
The action continued to The Jacksonville Landing, where the Suns were introduced to a large crowd in the landing courtyard, and players signed autographs for fans.
This morning I had a chance to visit our friends at First Coast News as Southpaw and I made an appearance on “Good Morning Jacksonville.”
While the Suns are gearing up for the start of the series, the parent club Miami Marlins are trying to regroup after getting swept by the Atlanta Braves in the first series of the season. The Marlins are off today, but start a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays in Miami tomorrow as the Citrus Series is back underway.
