JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (5-4) will begin a five-game set against the Biloxi Shuckers (5-4) who come to town as the home team due to construction to their home ballpark.

As part of a historic 55-game road trip due to work still being done to Biloxi’s MGM Park, the Shuckers will come to Bragan Field as the home squad. The team is forced to share stadiums not only here in Jacksonville, but in Pearl, Miss., and Hunstville., Ala. in their inaugural season. The brand-new stadium is not set to open until sometime in mid-June.

The Suns will look to get back on the right track in their first “road” series of the year, after dropping three straight to the Montgomery Biscuits. Jacksonville was shutout in the rubber match yesterday afternoon by a 2-0 score.

In the loss, Matt Tomshaw allowed two runs (earned) on nine hits while striking out three. The left-hander found himself in trouble early in innings, but for the most part was able to navigate through any significant damage. Brian Ellington and Sean Donatello combined tossed three scoreless innings out the of the bullpen for Jacksonville.

Offensively the Suns finished 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

The Biloxi Shuckers will come to north Florida today after splitting a doubleheader with Mobile. At the plate they feature a trio of batters that are hitting over .390. Right-handed bats such as Yadiel Rivera (.423), Michael Reed (.400), and Orlando Arcia (.393), have provided the spark through nine games.

Today’s pitching matchup will feature Suns top-righty Trevor Williams (0-0, 0.75) and he’ll be opposed by southpaw Brent Suter (1-0, 0.00) of Biloxi. Williams has had tough luck earning a pair of no decisions through two games, pitching a stellar 12 innings while striking out a team-leading 14 batters in those starts.  Suter earned a victory in his first go-around against Pensacola tossing a scoreless 3 and 2/3 innings surrendering two hits while striking out six.
