JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (6-6) were dropped by the Biloxi Shuckers (7-5) 4-1 thanks in part to a 3-run rally in the sixth inning Wednesday afternoon from Bragan Field.
Hear from Suns Manager David Berg Postgame:
Earning the victory for Biloxi was starter Tyler Wagner (W, 3-0) who lasted six innings allowing one earned run on one walk and three strikeouts. Kendry Flores (L, 1-2) took the loss for Jacksonville operating over 5 and 1/3 innings allowing three runs (all earned) on two walks and four strikeouts. Jaye Chapman (S, 1) nailed down the victory for Biloxi throwing a scoreless ninth en route to his first save of the season.
The scoring began in the third for Jacksonville after Justin Bohn (HR, 1) sent a deep ball to left field jumping his squad out to a 1-0 lead.
Sliding into the last of the sixth inning Nick Ramirez would tie the score at one after looping a RBI single to right. Next batter Michael Reed, provided a RBI single of his own to push Biloxi in front 2-1. With the bases loaded, and Suns reliever Frankie Reed in relief of Flores, a passed ball charged to catcher Sharif Othman would slide one more across for the Shuckers to extend their lead to 3-1.
In the seventh Biloxi would create more breathing room following a Orlando Arcia two-out sac fly sending home Kyle Wren from third, to balloon their advantage to 4-1 through seven frames at Bragan Field.
The Suns bullpen worked 2 and 2/3 innings on the contest between Frankie Reed and Brian Ellington. Reed would enter in the sixth with one out and finish the frame allowing two walks along the way. Ellington tossed a pair of innings allowing one unearned run on one hit.
