By: Kyle Crooks / Jacksonville Suns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (6-8) struggles continued at the plate against the Biloxi Shuckers (8-5) in a 1-0 loss Friday night from Bragan Field.

Hear from Suns Manager David Berg Postgame:

Picking up the win for Biloxi was Jorge Lopez (W, 1-2) as he would last five scoreless innings while walking two and striking out three. Suns starter Matt Tomshaw (L, 0-2) took the loss manufacturing five innings surrendering one run (earned) on seven hits while walking one and striking out four. Wirfin Obispo (S,2) closed the door for the Shuckers picking up his second save pitching a perfect ninth frame.

The scoring would begin in the bottom of the third when Orlando Arcia laced a groundball single at Suns third baseman David Adams, that bounced off his glove into foul ground, allowing Nate Orf to score from second to leap Biloxi to a 1-0 lead that proved to be enough.

The two hits Jacksonville manufactured included a double off the bat of Ryan Rieger in the second and a single by David Adams in the third frame.

The Suns finished the contest going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position while leave a total of five men on base.
