JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Miami Marlins announced pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight’s game against the Chattanooga Lookouts at 7:05 p.m. at Bragan Field.

Left-handed relief pitcher Chipper Smith has been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. With the Suns, Smith was 2-2 with a 4.81 ERA in 16 appearances and 11 starts, and has been in the bullpen since mid-June.

In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Sean Donatello returns to Jacksonville’s active roster from the disabled list. Donatello was placed on the disabled list June 8 with right biceps tendinitis.

This season Donatello is 0-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 24 appearances and still a Southern League-best 14 saves. Donatello also leads the Southern League in games finished (23). In April he was named the Southern League’s BC Powder Relief Pitcher of the Month after converting six saves during the season’s first month, and was a Southern League Midseason All-Star.

The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.
