JACKSONVILE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (7-8, 36-48) were topped by the Mobile BayBears (8-7, 42-42) 5-2 Friday night from Bragan Field.

John Omahen (W, 2-0) in his winning decision lasted six innings surrendering two runs (both earned) on five hits while walking three and striking out one for Mobile. Sean Donatello (L, 0-4) (BS, 4) worked an inning in relief for the Suns and offered up two runs (both earned) on three hits while walking and striking out one in the losing decision. Silvino Bracho (S, 6) earned his sixth save of the year after tossing a scoreless ninth for the BayBears.
The scoring would begin in the fourth when Mobile had Zach Borenstein reach on a two-out walk then move to second on a wild pitch for Gabriel Guerrero’s RBI single to make it a 1-0 ballgame.
In the last of the fourth frame the Suns plated two runs after sending eight men to the plate. With two runners on, a throwing error from BayBears catcher Mark Thomas scored J.T. Riddle and tied the game at one. That was soon followed up by a David Adams run-scoring single that made it 2-1
In the top of the seventh, against Suns reliever Sean Donatello, a lead off single and a pair of RBI doubles off the bat of Mark Thomas and Tom Belza made it 3-2 Mobile.
In the first of the eighth frame, Suns bullpen arm Fabian Williamson worked into a bass loaded jam to then offer up a two RBI single to Belza, extending the BayBears advantage to 5-2.
Austin Brice in his start for Jacksonville worked six innings allowing one run (earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out five in a no decision.
The Suns and BayBears will square off again Saturday night from Bragan Field with a first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Jake Esch (6-5, 3.62 ERA) while the BayBears will counter with righty Zack Godley (1-1, 5.79 ERA).
