JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight’s games against the Birmingham Barons at 5:05 p.m. at Bragan Field.
Right-handed relief pitcher Scott McGough has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. McGough pitched in 10 games for the Suns in 2015, with no wins or losses and a 2.70 ERA in 13 and a third innings pitched.
Right-handed relief pitcher Kyle Barraclough has been acquired by the Marlins from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for right-handed relief pitcher and former Sun Steve Cishek, and Barraclough has been placed on the Jacksonville roster.
Barraclough had pitched at two different levels of the Cardinals organization in 2015. He started the year with High-A Palm Beach, where he was 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA in 11 appearances with four saves. He was transferred in mid-May to Double-A Springfield in the Texas League, where he went 2-0 with a 3.28 ERA in 23 appearances and collected eight saves. Barraclough was selected by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2012 draft out of St. Mary’s College of California.
Additionally, left-handed relief pitcher Raudel Lazo has returned to the Suns from the temporary inactive list after tending to personal matters. Lazo is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA in eight appearances out of the Suns bullpen.
The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.
The Suns and Barons will play a doubleheader Saturday night with a first pitch from Bragan Field for game one set for 5:05 p.m. ET. Game two beginning approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one. In the opener the Suns will send out left-hander Matt Tomshaw (4-7, 4.05 ERA) while the Barons will counter with righty Mark Blackmar (3-4, 3.42 ERA). In the nightcap the Suns will start right-hander Blake Logan (3-2, 3.65 ERA), while the Barons will start righty Frankie Montas (3-1, 2.31 ERA).
