The Jacksonville Suns (13-23, 42-63) and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-16, 45-59) will gear up for a busy night at Bragan Field all beginning at 5:35 p.m. ET.
Last night’s game was suspended in the top of the third due to rain with the Suns trailing the Blue Wahoos 3-0. With the Suns trailing, that will begin the slate of two games to be completed tonight in Jacksonville. Game three of this series will be a seven inning contest that will start approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the opener.
Last night the scoring would begin in the top of the first after Alex Blandino and Jesse Winker generated a double and a walk respectively, to then score courtesy of Seth Mejias-Brean’s two-run double. Pensacola would hold a 2-0 advantage through one inning of play.
Moving to the second frame, Pensacola worked a pair of runners in scoring position for Sal Romano’s RBI sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 contest.
The season series between the Suns and Wahoos currently has Pensacola ahead of the Suns having won nine of the sixteen meetings between the two. In order for JAX to stave off a potential season series loss, the Suns would need to win this five-game set by taking at least four games. Jacksonville has won every season series since the inception of the Golden Skillet trophy in 2012.
