JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (13-26, 42-66) were stifled by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (23-16, 48-59) pitching staff en route to a 2-1 loss Wednesday night from Bragan Field.

Wahoos starter Cody Reed (W, 2-0) tossed a scoreless eight frames allowing four hits while walking two and striking out a career-high 12 in the victory. Scott Lyman (L, 0-7) generated seven frames allowing two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out seven in a losing decision. Zack Weiss (S, 15) earned the save in the ninth allowing one run on one hit (one home run) while notching a strike out for Pensacola.
The scoring would begin in the top of the seventh after Marquez Smith worked a one out walk to then get knocked in courtesy of Juan Duran’s RBI double. With the Wahoos leading 1-0, two batters later Ryan Wright lifted a run scoring triple into center to bring in Duran and double up Pensacola’s advantage to make it a 2-0 ballgame.
In the bottom of the ninth it was Matt Juengel (HR, 16) putting the Suns on the board with a solo home run over the left field wall to make it a 2-1 game.
Raudel Lazo tossed a pair of scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Jacksonville allowing two hits while not walking a batter and striking out three.
The Suns and Wahoos will play their series finale Thursday night with a first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. ET from Bragan Field. The Suns will send out righty Austin Brice (3-8, 5.66 ERA) while the Wahoos will counter with right-hander Barrett Astin (3-2, 3.48 ERA).
