JACKSON, Tenn.– The Jacksonville Suns (18-32, 47-72) defeated the Jackson Generals (16-33, 45-72) 9-2 in their rubber match Sunday night from The Ballpark at Jackson.

Suns starter Trevor Williams (W, 7-8) lasted seven frames on the mound allowing one run (earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out three in the victory. Stephen Landazuri (L, 1-4) in his start for Jackson worked five and a third innings relinquishing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits while walking one and striking out four in a losing decision.

Jacksonville would load the bases in the second courtesy of a walk to Viosergy Rosa, and a pair of singles by Ryan Rieger and Elliot Soto. Three straight RBI singles by Eudy Pina, Kenny Wilson, and Zack Cox pushed the Suns in front 3-0. With the bases still full, David Adams laced a base knock into left, that was misplayed by Generals left-fielder Jabari Henry, that cleared the bases, and created a 6-0 scoreboard advantage.

In the third frame the Suns tacked on a pair of runs. After a Matt Juengel double led off the inning, Rieger ripped a run scoring triple into center, ballooning Jacksonville’s edge to 7-0. With Rieger now on third, Soto manufactured a RBI groundout to create a tally of 8-0.

Jackson responded with a run in the last of the fourth. After a two-out walk to Guillermo Pimentel, Aderlin Rodriguez sent a RBI double into right field that got the Generals on the board, and made it an 8-1 ballgame.

In the ninth the Suns loaded the bases with one out against Generals reliever Tyler Knigge. A RBI sacrifice fly by Rieger in the frame pushed the Suns advantage up 9-1.

In the last of the ninth, with Suns reliever Lay Batista on the mound, Tyler Marlette collected a run scoring double to make it a 9-2 game.
