The Jacksonville Suns (26-41, 55-81) will face off with the Mississippi Braves (36-30, 69-65) in game three of their series tonight with a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch from Bragan Field.

The Suns look to play spoiler for the rest of this series against Mississippi, who continues to be in contention in the South Division. The Braves, even with a win last night, still remain a half game back of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The Wahoos are coming off a 15-inning walk-off win last night courtesy of Juan Duran’s RBI single.

Suns second-baseman David Adams has been red-hot in this series, collecting six RBI, with three of them coming in last night’s loss. Adams has been coming through in clutch situations, not only on Thursday providing a walk-off home run, but his two-run single in the seventh of Friday night’s loss manufactured the Suns a one-run lead they would carry into the ninth.

Tonight’s pitching matchup will feature Jacksonville left-hander Jarlin Garcia to be opposed by Mississippi righty Andrew Thurman. Garcia steps to the hill for the Suns with a record of 0-3 attached with an ERA of 5.58 in six starts. His last trip to the hill came on 8/30 against Tennessee, in which he posted six innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits while walking two and striking out four in an 83-pitch performance and a losing decision. The southpaw made five starts in the month of August and posted an 0-2 mark while sporting a 5.04 ERA. Garcia was the lone representative of the Marlins farm system in the 2015 Sirius/XM Futures Game at The Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 22-year spent his year prior to joining Jacksonville at the High-A level with Jupiter. There Garcia would put together a 3-5 mark attached with a 3.06 ERA in 18 starts en route to being a Florida State Mid-Season All-Star. Garcia signed with the Marlins as a minor league free agent signing in May of 2011.

Thurman will take the mound for the Braves 1-3 with an ERA of 4.58 over four starts. His last time taking the ball was on 8/30 against Biloxi, in which Thurman would take the loss after five frames surrendering four runs (all earned) on eight hits while walking three and striking out one. This year the 23-year old has spent time at the High-A and rookie ball levels. With Carolina (A+), he made 11 starts and generated a record of 5-4 alongside 3.77 earned-run mark. With the GCL Braves (Rk) the native of California posted an ERA north of three in three games and two starts. He’s a former second-round draft pick of the Houston Astros in the 2013 draft, and entered the Braves organization courtesy of a trade that most notably sent Evan Gattis to the Astros.
