JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight’s game against the Jackson Generals at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 7:05 p.m.

Outfielder Moises Sierra has been placed on the disabled list with left knee tendinitis. Sierra leads the Southern League with a .336 batting average, and he also has hit nine home runs and driven in 37 runs for the Suns this year. This is the second stint for Sierra on Jacksonville’s disabled list in the second half, he was on the disabled list from June 25 to July 7 with a right hamstring strain.

Additionally, right-handed pitcher Tayron Guerrero has been acquired by the Marlins in a trade with the San Diego Padres, and optioned to Jacksonville. Guerrero was acquired by the Marlins from San Diego along with right-handed pitcher Andrew Cashner, right-handed pitcher Colin Rea, and cash considerations in exchange for right-handed pitcher Carter Capps, right-handed pitcher (former Sun) Jarred Cosart, and first baseman Josh Naylor in a trade that was completed earlier today.

Guerrero has pitched at three different levels of the Padres organization this year. With Triple-A El Paso he had no wins or losses and a 6.00 ERA in 13 relief appearances. He also pitched in the major leagues with the Padres, making his major league debut on May 17 against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park. Guerrero pitched two innings (eighth and ninth) where he allowed a run on a hit with a walk in a game the Giants won 5-1. He most recently pitched with Double-A San Antonio in the Texas League. With the Missions he was 0-3 with a 4.94 ERA in 19 games in relief. Guerrero is a member of the Marlins 40-man roster.

The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.
